The Madama Butterfly Collaboration with Chelsea Opera comes to a close

Posted on Monday, June 18th, 2012

The collaboration, promoted by More Art, between Chelsea Opera, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the production of high quality, affordable operas accessible to all members of the community, and students of the Clinton Middle School has ended on a high note with the students attending the dress rehearsal for Chelsea Opera’s latest production, Madama Butterfly, on June 6th.

Through a series of six workshops led by Lynne Hayden-Findlay, co-founder of Chelsea Opera, the students were exposed to the history, characters and Japanese influences of Madama Butterfly, as well as the tradition of opera, its history, and its place in the current cultural context. The young students were able to appreciate the liveliness and relevance of an art form they hardly knew existed!
