Borrowed Light ‘Arts Celebration’ in Sunset Park!

August 17, 2015

“Saturday was one of those days when I could truly appreciate the power of art to break the barriers among us and to help us be more present humans. This project certainly transformed the way I hear sound!” – Maritza Arrastia, ESOL Teacher/Coordinator, Turning Point

On Saturday, August 15th, More Art hosted an Arts Celebration in Sunset Park on-site of the sculpture and sound installation ‘Borrowed Light‘ by artist Sari Carel. The event was full of dance and performance, with a special musical presentation by ESOL students of Turning Point Brooklyn Education Center led by Sari Carel and composer Eli Keszler.

The celebration was free and featured the artwork and participation of summer-camp students at PS 169, Sunset Park High School and Center for Family Life Brooklyn, Life Lines Summer Program. Throughout the day there was music, performances and presentations from the New York Chinese Cultural Center as well as poetry & prose readings by the NY Writers Coalition in Sunset Park.

Snacks and refreshments were provided by La Flor de Izucar, Associated Fresh Market, and Steven’s Deli.
