We have a lot to celebrate! In 2017:

• We presented 9 free screenings of NYSFERATU by Andrea Mastrovito which reached over 2000 New Yorkers in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Hudson Valley. The animated film featured Spanish, Mandarin, Ukrainian, and Arabic translations and was honored at the Rome Film Festival this November.
• Our community programs served 50 recent immigrants and English language learners from Bay Ridge to Flushing (and hailing from over a dozen home countries from Yemen to Mexico) with film studies and writing workshops that used the symbol of the vampire to talk about xenophobia today.
• Clean Labor a new work of choreography by Brendan Fernandes in collaboration with Wythe Hotel cleaning staff, made visible the invisible migrant-powered labor force that supports our city.
• Our Engaging Artists Fellows have worked directly with 450 community members in 4 boroughs around topics related to housing and anti-gentrification, to immigrant rights, and economic justice.
• We expanded our team to include a new Artist & Community Programs Coordinator to broaden our ability to offer new professional development, education, exhibition, and project support opportunities to NYC artists and local communities, exemplified by the inspiring group show, Building Stories.
• We have launched exciting new partnerships with social justice-focused organizations such as Safe Passage Project, Immigration Equality, and The NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene’s Center for Health Equity, to name only a few.
