Poster statement: Fashion companies objectify both men and women in their advertisements to sell their products.

Untitled, addresses issues of gender inequity and unfair standards for women set by the fashion industry that often precipate erroded self-worth and low self-esteem.

Phoenix Chen was born and raised in New York City where the streets are packed with tourists and brand stores. In her art, she criticizes the ways women are portrayed in magazines as well as on social media. She makes a collage using different fashion magazines and reassembles the images to show the distorted beauty standards women are expected to meet.

Phoenix Chen was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She attends The Brooklyn Latin School with a focus on visual arts and enjoys exploring different types of medium.

She is interested in the correlation between nature and the human anatomy. Her oil paintings capture the connection between these subjects and using a specific perspective, her work channels the audience’s attention. Her work conveys the beauty within nature and the human body. Chen’s art has been featured in the Brooklyn Museum.
